PERCUSSION CLINIC
wEDNESDAY, ocTOBER 19, 2022
6:00pm – 9:00pm / South Lake High School Stadium
ARRIVAL / PARKING:
All buses & equipment trucks / trailers should enter Gate #5 and park on the practice field through the gate at the end of the path. All spectators and others cars should park in Gate #4 and enter the stadium from the west side.
CHECK-IN / STAGING:
All performing groups should check-in at the field house area, and unload equipment at the Band’s practice field (behind the field house), and then stage battery equipment in the eastern end zone, and their front ensemble equipment on the eastern end of the track until their designated warm-up/performance time. All groups should plan to arrive at the start of the clinic. Your group may opt to bring ALL your equipment, or we will have a limited supply of front ensemble equipment available to borrow for your performance. All groups will need their battery instruments, and all sticks and mallets necessary for your performance.
GROUP WARM-UP:
Each group will be permitted approximately a 5-10 minute warm-up during their performance window. This time will also be evaluated by our clinicians to further develop your ensemble.
PERFORMANCE FORMAT:
In front of the audience and clinicians, each group should plan to play a brief warm-up (5-10 minutes) consisting of a few exercises, then the group should perform their marching band field show. Use of your own drum major is permitted and encouraged (We will have a podium available). At the conclusion of your show music, each group would be permitted to perform one (1) cadence if they so desire. All of what is played will be evaluated by a panel of clinicians, that will accompany your group to another area immediately following your performance to offer commentary directly to the director/staff and the ensemble. THERE IS NO PLAYING PERMITTED AT ANY OTHER TIMES DURING THE EVENT, especially when unloading/loading equipment.
mass drumline:
At the conclusion of the event we will hold a “Mass Drumline”, where all members of all ensembles will join on the field to play two exercises together and mingle with their peers from other schools in our surrounding communities. This is a great opportunity for our students to be a part of something BIG, and it is a great photo opportunity for all audience members, parents, staff, directors, and local media. Sheet music available below:
CONCESSIONS AVAILABLE:
We will have an affordable menu of concession food items including: pizza, chips, soda, water, sports drinks, and candy. Please patronize our concession stand so that we can continue to host events like this in the future.
